Andy enjoyed providing additional production on this album for the English psychedelic rock band, despite its fraught circumstances.

Frontman Terry Bickers left the band during its making and his vocals were overdubbed by new vocalist Steve Ludwin with this version of the album only seeing a low key release in Australia on Festival Records. Levitation split soon after, and the album was finally released on streaming services in 2015 having been remastered from the orginal 1/2″ tapes with Terry Bickers’ original vocals.

Levitation’s bass player Laurence O’Keefe would later join the touring line-up of Gang of Four.

“The version with Steve singing was a completely different record – quite a few of the songs were new but also the entire feel of the record changed having him on there – we were just trying to find a way to keep going forward and defy the odds.” – Robert White, Keyboards, Guitar, Vocals – Levitation, Louder Than War, August 17th 2020.

“I think Meanwhile Gardens has some of our best material on it. It was such a free, open and ultra-creative time. Our musical chemistry was magical and anything seemed possible.”  – Christian Hayes, Guitar, Vocals – Levitation, Louder Than War, August 17th 2020.
