bis - Social Dancing (1999)
Andy produced the second album for bis for leading UK indie label Wiiija.
“This dance stuff I’m doing is no way techno but a lot of it is samples and different kind of song structures, kind of in a way like Gang of Four. It’s like that with a lot of dance-orientated stuff. I did bis’s last album and that also involves a lot of samples and programming. It’s all cut-up, sampled and re-arranged.” Andy, Perfect Sound Forever/ Furious.com.
“In all our years we so rarely let anyone into our inner sanctum but Andy was a special case and we connected with a shared wicked and dry humour and love of jarring moments in popular music. We were notoriously difficult to work with and steadfastly refused to listen to record company or management advice but when Andy told us to go away and write a proper chorus to a work in progress demo, we trusted him enough to do so. We came back with ‘Eurodisco’ which has been our most enduring work for the last 25 years and Andy is called to mind every time we play it. He also made some pretty tasty records of his own.” – Steven Clark, vocalist from bis, July 2022.
