Gang Of Four - The Dying Rays Collection / Die Staubkorn Sammlung EP (2015)
The Dying Rays EP features Germany’s top selling artist and Andy’s friend Herbert Grönemeyer singing both English and German language versions of this song, plus there are remixes by UK dance music producer Rivalry.
It was released as part of the What Happens Next album cycle and there was an accompanying music video shot in London which was released in two versions, sung by Herbert in English and German.
The EP is also available on two separate vinyl formats – on black vinyl with a picture sleeve; and as an individually numbered white label which was hand stamped. The digital sleeve is written in German for German streaming services and in English everywhere else.
Both the English and German versions of “The Dying Rays” can also be found on the What Happens Next album (2015).
“The Dying Rays” was re-recorded after Andy died with vocals sung by Gang of Four singer John Sterry. It features on the This Heaven Gives Me Migraine EP (2020) – see separate entry in this discography. The song was also performed by Gang of Four at Andy’s memorial.
